Taiwanese E-Ten, Arima to Co-develop 3G/3.5G Smartphones

According to Taiwan's Economic Daily News, two Taiwanese mobile phone companies, own-brand vendor E-Ten Information Systems and ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) maker Arima Communications, have joined forces to develop EMP (Ericsson Mobile Platforms)-based 3G/3.5G Smartphones. The first 3.5G Smartphone co-developed by the two companies, codenamed X800, is slated for rollout in the third quarter of 2007. The X800 will be running on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6 OS and will be enabled with HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access), GPS (Global Positioning System), and Wi-Fi functions.
